Joy is a senior attending Lord Byng Secondary School in Vancouver. After witnessing the once-cherished public green space becoming a desolate area, she noticed that there was little to no interaction between community members, and the connection between people and nature seemed to fade. Moreover, there was little effort made by the community to maintain or protect the space. That is why she founded VYGSF with Cressida, holding a passion for turning the greenway into a collaborative space between local members and nature by doing weekly cleanups and implementing picnic tables and planters across the greenway.

Cressida is the co-founder of the Vancouver Youth Greenway Sustainability Foundation (VYGSF). She is currently partnering with Joy Fan to foster a connection between people and nature through initiatives like weekly cleanups, installing picnic tables, and placing flower planters along the greenway. She believes in the power of collaboration to create a sustainable, welcoming environment for all. Cressida is also committed to engaging local youth, empowering them to take active roles along the greenway: mainly environmental conservation and community-building efforts.

Nathan Yin is a Grade 12 student from Richmond Christian Secondary School in Richmond, BC. He is the IT Director of Vancouver Youth Greenway Sustainability Foundation and he created the website to help spread the message of greenway and inspire the youth of our endeavours. Through this, Nathan hopes the cleanups, installments, and plantings will bring pride to the people of our country.
